2020 Public Holidays UAE Service

The above is the list of 2020 public holidays declared in UAE which includes federal, regional government holidays and popular observances. We also provide UAE holiday calendar for 2020 in Word, Excel, PDF and printable online formats.

The UAE has many holidays and observances where 14 of them get recognized nation wide. The public holidays are influenced by the Islamic religion and historical events of the empire. The King and his officials regulate public holidays dictating when the celebration should be held. The announcements of these holidays occur at the start of each year. These holidays are set using the moon sighting process. For this reason, each year the dates change. In UAE, the weekend falls on Friday and Saturdays.

A public holiday can be shifted to the end or beginning of the week if it occurs between two of the stipulated working days. The public sector has a lot of public holidays than private sectors. Some Islamic holidays can go for one week to three weeks. This time is used to plan and make the faithful trip to Mecca. These changes are defined and made from the Hijri calendar. The public sector employees get a paid day off which is not part of their annual leave. Residents in the city go on vacation and spend time with their families. Businesses close down during these holidays. Banks and government offices close down for the entire period of these holidays. Employees are required by law to have days off for the major holidays with pay. Those who have to report to work are given time off in the date of their choice which comes with pay.

Tourists come to UAE to view and witness the magnificent human-made beaches, culture, history and architectural designs seen nowhere else in the world. The hotels in the nations are top class and offer services experienced nowhere else in the world.
