The above is the list of 2021 public holidays declared in Azerbaijan which includes federal, regional government holidays and popular observances. We also provide Azerbaijan holiday calendar for 2021 in Word, Excel, PDF and printable online formats.
Azerbaijan's location is at the border of Eastern Europe and western Asia. The country is a Muslim dominated nation with 95% of the population following the Islamic faith. Azerbaijan has 12 public holidays, of which some are observed over a few days. The most popular holiday in Azerbaijan is celebrated in a span of five days during the week. This gives the citizens of Azerbaijan two free weekends as part of the celebrations.
Lawmakers usually recognize Azerbaijan's public holidays under the labor code, section 5, division 15, Articles 105-109. All public holidays are non-working days for all employees. The law dictates that employees should be given paid day-offs on public holidays.
According to this law, employees are entitled to at least one day off during multi-day celebrations. This, however, excludes Novruz when they are allowed to take two off days. On the day of mourning, employers are required to give their employees an hour off on the day before this holiday.
During public holidays the Republic of Azerbaijan does not receive any foreign delegation, and they do not hold any public meeting either. There is also no recommendation for any public officer to hold an official reception or event on any public holiday.
In Azerbaijan, each province has its national holidays in honor of their patron saint. These days only occur in particular regions, and employees always get a paid day off.
