Poland is located in central Europe. Like many nations, Poland has several public holidays celebrated yearly. There are eleven public holidays celebrated in Poland. Eight of these holidays are religious while three are national holidays.
The Polish government gives employees a paid day off during official public holidays. Schools, businesses and government offices are closed during public holidays.
Due to the dominance of the Catholic region in Poland, most of the holidays are based on Catholic traditions and beliefs. Christians celebrate Easter holidays which incorporates Easter Sunday and Monday. The holiday is celebrated to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ. The day is marked by attending mass and feasting. Other holidays include white Sunday, Epiphany, Corpus Christi, and All Saints Day.
Christmas day is the most celebrated religious holiday. The celebrations start the day before the due date. Christians’ concerts and songs are held as people wait for the day. During this day, the entire nation celebrates in an outstanding way. Lots of festivities and celebrations mark the day. People have picnics, and others gift their friends.
The New Year celebration is the most celebrated public holiday. Christians and other religions nationwide converge to welcome the New Year. Celebrations and dances are conducted everywhere along the streets as people sing to celebrate the New Year.
The most celebrated national holiday is Independence Day. Everybody gladly welcomes this day. The day is observed in remembrance of Poland emancipation from Russia occupation. A lot of fireworks are seen all over the cities on this day. Celebrations are held all over the country. The day is a source of unity in Poland.
