2026 Public Holidays Yemen Service
The above is the list of 2026 public holidays declared in Yemen which includes federal, regional government holidays and popular observances. We also provide Yemen holiday calendar for 2026 in Word, Excel, PDF and printable online formats.
Yemen has a lot of Islamic holidays; almost 70% of the residents are Islam. It has 18 public holidays in a year. In the country, the weekend begins from Friday to Saturday.
The public holidays differ each year as they are subject to the Moon sighting. The government regulates the public holidays; under the laws of the land it has the power to remove or introduce any public holiday it sees fit. Under Article 78 of the states, all workers are entitled to a full day’s pay on all the recognized public holidays. Article 71 states that in the month of Ramadan, all workers are not allowed to work for more than 36 hours a week. The public holidays are influenced by culture, religion, and historical events.
The banks and government offices close during these public holidays. Businesses do close down, but some stay open all through the holidays. The traffic during this time reduces as many people stay indoors. On certain public holidays, the residents dance and match through the streets singing and dancing. Foreigners who work in the country are required by the law to get an extra day off to celebrate their country’s National Day.
Most of these holidays go for two to three days whereas others can go for three weeks. The vibrant culture and historical significance of the society attracts a lot of tourists during these holidays. There is no restriction for any foreigner who would care to join in the celebration.
