2026 Public Holidays Argentina Service
The above is the list of 2026 public holidays declared in Argentina which includes federal, regional government holidays and popular observances. We also provide Argentina holiday calendar for 2026 in Word, Excel, PDF and printable online formats.
Argentina has are a total of nineteen public 19 holidays, of which some have fixed dates while others keep revolving. The holidays are governed by the law which determines whether a holiday remains on its actual date despite the day of the week it falls on. The law also establishes the revolving holidays where a holiday that falls on a midweek day or weekend is moved to the nearest Monday.
It means that if a holiday lands on a Tuesday or a Thursday, then the preceding Monday and the Friday after the holiday is also day offs. In simple terms, if a holiday falls on a Thursday, then both Thursday and Friday are considered holidays, with regular operations resuming on Monday after the weekend. If it lands on a Tuesday, then Monday becomes a holiday too.
According to the Argentine law that governs holidays, people who observe the Jewish faith celebrate an extra holiday on the first and last days of Passover as well as Yom Kippur. Muslims also get an additional day off on Islamic New Year.
Christmas is the most revered holiday in Argentina. Argentines celebrate the day with family gatherings, dinners, parties. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are semi-holidays, though some businesses may remain closed for the afternoon.
During public holidays, banks, government offices and some businesses remain closed for the day. Some retail stores and restaurants remain open on public holidays, some throughout the day and others only open for a few hours. Public transportation is also limited, and it is, therefore, advisable to reverse tickets far in advance if you intend to travel on a public holiday.
