Jordan public holidays are categorized into two, religious and national holiday carrying important Jordanian historical events. During holidays, all government offices and institutions are closed, and workers are given a paid day off on any official public holiday.
The Islamic religion dominates the nation of Jordan, so most religious holidays are based on Islamic culture and traditions. The Islamic holidays usually follow the lunar calendar. Ramadan is one of the significant occasions every year. The month is celebrated nationwide and has a significance of peace and unity. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to evening.
