Venezuela celebrates 44 holidays in a year. Out of these holidays, 17 are public holidays that are celebrated and recognized by the government. The government, banks, and offices are closed for the rest of the holidays. The Ministry of Labor regulates the public holidays. Under Article 185 of the labor code, the government has the power to declare or call off a public holiday.
